Wedding Story

From Stephanie & Richard

Stephanie and Richard got married on a summer day at Landgoed Tespelduyn in Noordwijkerhout in this Wedding Story you can read their story. After a romantic ceremony under the Wedding Arbor, they left for the church for the church blessing before returning to the estate for cake, a delicious dinner and an amazing party where a special someone was their guest.

Bridesmaids

Stephanie: "I had four bridesmaids: my sister Bo and my friends Casey (from Canada), Daphne and Evelien. We went to Leiden together for the dresses. I wanted everyone to feel comfortable in the dress they would wear. I wanted a soft pink color so within that color they chose their own model dress!"

Floral decor

Stephanie: "My father and Richard work with flowers. So it was obvious that they would be in charge of the flower arrangements. Since our wedding card had shades of light pink, that color was carried through in both the dresses, accents and flowers. The flowers for my bouquet and for the bridesmaids were made by a client of Richard's from Rotterdam. My father even had Sophie, a client, fly over specially from France for the decoration: Richard sourced the flowers and Sophie made the decoration."

Ceremony

Richard: "Our ceremony was personal and not too heavy. We've known each other since we were little, but didn't meet again in the pub until later in life. The spark struck and two months later we were already on a plane together to Aruba & Curaçao."

Decorations

Stephanie: "I did all the decorations myself. I even cobbled together the lanterns the night before our wedding day. We didn't want a theme because we didn't want to force anyone to come in a certain color or style, so we could just choose what we liked for the decoration. We rented the letters. Online. Actually, it was supposed to be the letters for LOVE, but the wrong letters were delivered. Panic! Then I came up with this: in the morning R&S, for our names, and after the church service, when we were really married, MR & MRS."

Cake

Stephanie: Our wedding cake was made by Ine Paauw, contestant of Heel Holland Bakt and friend of my mother. She also lives nearby so it was natural for us that she would make the cake. Richard ordered matching flowers for on the cake."

Dream location

Richard: "Landgoed Tespelduyn is a beautiful venue. We got married outside in a gazebo, we had a great dinner, the service was very good. Everything was just perfectly arranged and taken care of down to the last detail. Also the personal attention is nice, we could go to each other for everything."

Opening scene

Stephanie: "Richard and I were getting ready for the party night and downstairs all the evening guests came in. Then the song for our opening dance was started, Richard came downstairs, raised his hand and there I came down! All the guests lined up and so we were able to open the evening together."

Special moments

Richard: "It was a very special day. The speeches of our parents were the most emotional moment for us. What has stayed with us is the arrival at Landgoed Tespelduyn; everyone waiting for us in a guard of honor. And that we said our vows out loud to each other in church."

Special guest

Stephanie: "This was the surprise of the evening! Anita Meijer who came to perform. Everyone went wild to Why tell me why. My father and I think one of her songs is the most beautiful song ever made. And this picture was taken during that song. Everyone was standing around us while we were going wild, a special moment."
